Certain age periods in life bring an onslaught of hormonal activity within the body and can create a skin problem known as acne.

The first time this occurs is usually in the late childhood, early teen years. It occurs once more during the years of middle age, usually in response to post menopause.

These skin eruptions during these time periods can cause a certain amount of emotional trauma. During teen years the drive to appear attractive to the opposite sex is overwhelming.

This is completely natural and an outbreak of acne can be very traumatic to the average teenager. In the older person, the drive to be attractive to the opposite sex is still there, but it is tempered by age and maturity.

The stress comes about when they wonder if the outbreak of acne is a sign of a more serious problem within their body.

Even with the amount of information available today, most people still have misconceptions about acne. In the case of the average teen, they are very impatient and want the acne gone immediately, whereas the older person is more tranquil, but worries about it internally.

Obviously one of the best things you can do when undertaking the treatment of acne is to read up on the subject, research the causes and the treatments for this skin affliction. One of the best tool available today is the internet.

You can find vast amounts of information on the causes and treatment of acne on the information super highway.

Most do not utilize the information available to them from this resource, for one thing, the young are too impatient to take the time to do the research and the older ones are too busy with the everyday necessities of life such as caring for a spouse and children, working and taking care of the home to take the time to look up the information.

For those that do take the time to look it up, here are a few tips. First, remember that acne is only a temporary affliction that will go away. How fast depends on your body level of hormonal activity. Read and learn.

For the younger group, try to avoid those that may taunt you, are these the only people in your life? More than likely not. You would be surprised at the number of teens that are just like you!

Do you really want to date a person that only looks to see how beautiful you are on the outside, without delving a little deeper to find out what a cool person you are on the inside? Yes, it is hard. But think about it for a minute.

Would you rather date someone that looks beneath the surface and likes you for who you are? Or would you rather have the person that looks at your outer beauty and your figure and is shallow enough to believe that is all that counts?

Right now you are at that age where any advice given to you is believed to be incorrect and totally unacceptable.

Regardless, here is what you can do. Bathe twice daily in a bath that is warm enough to be comfortable. Use a good, soft soap with little detergent and a good moisturizer.

Baby soap is a good one to use. Wash your skin frequently, at least two to three times during the day, more often is better. Do not pick at it! Keep your fingers from touching it or trying to rub it off.

That just makes things worse. When drying the skin, pat it gently; do not try to scrub it off! When it comes time to buy cosmetics, avoid those that are oil based, choose, instead, water based cosmetic. Remember to keep your self confidence intact. How you do that is up to you.
