Staying fit isn't all about pumping iron, or running a marathon. There are many ways for men to stay in shape, and feel good about themselves without having to live at the gym. As long as you're dedicated to staying healthy, you'll be sure to succeed.

The most important thing about staying in shape is to eat healthy. Splurging once in a while on a Big Mac is okay, but fast food isn't the direction you want to go. Eat your meals in regular proportions, not super sized, and eat things that are good for you. Not all health food is bland and tasteless- look around until you find what you like. Not only will you look better, but your body will also feel more energized.

Exercise! Even if you're not big on running, or lifting weights, bring your bike to a local park, or walk your dog. Just staying active will help your body to feel younger, and you'll be surprised how much stamina you have after a few weeks of the routine. Play volleyball, basketball, or any other recreational sport with friends, or even family. Working out doesn't need to be a chore, you can make it enjoyable.

Managing stress may not seem very important, but it's a vital step to maintaining a healthy life-style. Try not to get too overwhelmed with work, money, or family situations. Stress can cause major health issues such as cardiovascular disease, and depression. Keep your stress to a bare minimum. Take a day off, or do something to take your mind off of your personal problems. By living a stress-free life, you'll not only be healthier, but much happier and relaxed.

Take care of yourself. Take time to yourself to do what you love, and to just have fun. If you're overly tired, go to bed earlier than usual, or sleep in. Depriving yourself of sleep won't only slow your work-outs down, but it also weakens your immune system. Listen to what your body is telling you it needs. Making sure you're happy is the most important part of staying healthy.

Make sure you visit your doctors as often as needed. Even if you feel younger, and healthier than ever, it's still good to have a professional verify that you're doing a good job taking care of yourself. A little praise on your newfound fitness is an immense confidence booster, and it's always good to double check that there aren't any health issues.

Laughter and companionship are essential to every day life. Whether it's a girlfriend, friends, or family, having someone to talk to on a daily basis is imperative. Even if nothing is bothering you, going out and having fun with people you feel comfortable around isn't only entertaining, but it also reminds you that you have people who care. Don't take them for granted, they're your friends for a reason, and they'd be glad to help you out with whatever you needed. Maybe you can even convince a few of them to stop visiting the burger King drive-thru, and join you in your quest to a healthy life.

Staying on track is hard at first, but after you get used to the routine, it'll feel completely normal. Being healthy not only makes you feel incredible, but it makes you look great, too! So download your new favorite songs on your iPod, and get started on the road to a new life.
