Women spend millions of dollars each year on products to reduce cellulite. It occurs when the connective tissues put pressure on the fat beneath the skin of the hips and thighs, creating a dimpled look. Nobody knows for sure what causes it but some experts claim that the cause is toxins trapped in the body fat.

Others disagree. There are many products on the market to help get rid of it, which women use with varying results. Surgery is the only way to completely remove it from the body. However, losing weight can help with cellulite reduction.

One major factor in cellulite control is diet. Cutting back on fatty foods and sugar will help reduce body fat. A diet that helps flush toxins out can also help reduce cellulite. Drinking eight glasses of water a day will help with this too. Cutting back on coffee and sodas, as well as chocolate can also help. Eat your fruits and veggies.

Green leafy vegetables and lots of fresh fruits will help your body flush toxins away, as will garlic, leeks and onions. Sweet red or green peppers, kale and broccoli are high in vitamin C and bioflavonoids and can make the connective tissues suppler. A healthy diet can help reduce it, and as a bonus, you'll feel better and have more energy.

An exercise program is vital if you want to reduce cellulite. Fat burning aerobic exercises can help with cellulite reduction. Stair-climbing exercises can build, strengthen and tone the muscles around the affected area. This will tighten the overlying skin to reduce that dimpled look.

You can also try massaging your hips and thighs. This won't get rid of cellulite, but it will make the connective tissues suppler. It also flushes out retained fluids and increases blood flow to the skin, which will fill in those pockmarks. It's a temporary cellulite solution, but will reduce that "orange peel" look.

A healthy diet and plenty of exercise is the best way to reduce it. Cutting down on salty and fatty foods and caffeine and eating plenty of fruits and vegetables will help reduce both toxins and body fat. Aerobic and muscle toning exercises will also help with cellulite reduction.

You can create a smoother appearance in the area through massage. While you will never completely get rid of it, unless you are willing to have surgery, you can reduce the appearance of it by reducing your weight.
