If you are a dentist, dental hygienist, or spend extended time as an employee in a dentist office, you are being exposed to the small particulates created by the high speed drills used on teeth. As a dental professional you can use a mask and safety glasses to initially avoid the particulates created by drilling, but those particulates remain airborne even after you remove your mask and glasses.

If you are in practice with a number of dentists, the number of particulates in the air is probably high. Protection initially from the particulates with masks and glasses is important and a good first step, but preventing yourself, other professionals and your patients from ingesting these particulates that remain airborne after the masks and glasses are removed is just as important. Consider using an air purifier with these 5 features.

1. Choose a high efficiency particle arresting filter or HEPA air purifier. A HEPA air purifier is a high efficiency particle arresting purifier designed to remove even the smallest airborne particulates down to .3 microns in size. So if there are 10,000 particulates in the air, a HEPA air purifier will remove 99, 997!

2. Accurately measure the square footage you need to clean. To assure that you air purifier functions properly it is imperative that you select an air purifier that is designed to clean the square footage of your office. Be sure to factor in ceiling height, particularly if your ceilings are higher than 8 feet. Buying an air purifier that is properly matched for your square footage will insure fresh particle-free air.

3. Choose a purifier with all steel construction and a baked-on powder coat finish. Steel construction sealed with a baked-on powder coat finish assures that you will only receive pure air when the purifier is operating. Purifiers made with plastic give off fumes from the plastic housing (out gassing) once the purifier has been running for a while and the plastic parts heat up.

4. Choose a purifier that is portable. Choosing a purifier that is portable has the advantage of being moved from one space in you office to another and even being able to easily change locations entirely.

5. Choose a purifier that is designed to run 24 hours, and does so quietly and economically. In order to keep your air clean you need a purifier that will run 24 hours a day so that pollutants are removed continuously even when you are away. Your purifier should be able to run continuously on just pennies a day.

Checking for these 5 features will insure that you get an air purifier that will remove the particulates from the air you breathe.
